Gauge infection? Am I doing this right?
Okay, so. I’ve had my ears gauged for years. Resently I went from a 1 gauge to a 00 in one sitting. The day I did it they were sore, but I cleaned off my gauges and decided that it was just the trauma of me being a dumbass and skipping sizes. The next day my ears were red and inflammed.
That was like a day ago. Now my ears aren’t sore (or, they are, but not a lot); my left ear is just a tad red, but clearing up nicely. My left ear, though, is still sore and it’s pussing a little on my jewlery. My lymph node (left side) has swollen up a little, too; I was getting sick before the gauging, could that be part of it?
Anyways, I’m just worried about the general risk of infection. I’ve been cleaning my gauges with Dial Soap, Triple Antibiotic, Peroxide and Rubbing Alcohol since yesterday and I’ve seen improvement since then.
What happens if my lymph nodes are swollen because of the gauge? What if the infection doesn’t clear up?
Sounds like you are keeping the area clean and it is a good indication if you have seen improvement. If you were getting sick prior to the gauges that could be a cause for the swollen lymph nodes. You sure don’t want your ears infected, too though. See if you start to develop fever, check behind your ears, on your neck and in the back of your neck and make sure you don’t have any knots. Also spreading infection might make lumps in the lymph nodes in your groin and under your arms. If this happens go to the doctor and get some antibotics. Don’t mess around with it and take chances with all the crazy staph infection mess going around. My landlord got it and it is some wicked stuff….put him in the hospital several days and kicked his butt big time…..Don’t fraze, just be smart about it you’ll be ok.
