my tv has no channels but has freeview with it and aerial extension and socket?
the question says it all… tv with freeview built in it , an aerial extension thats been plugged in tv and aerial socket but tv ahs no channels?
You need a very good signal from the aerial before your television can receive digital terrestrial television (Freeview).
Have a look at how it deals with the analogue channels. If they are “noisy” or have wavy background lines or ghosting, or any other poor picture standard then that shows that your aerial is not delivering a good signal.
Digital transmissions cannot cope with weak signals as well as analogue and they tend to either give blocky pictures or fail completely.
I’m a bit concerned with your “aerial extension”. What is it extending from? If you have a wall mounted aerial socket then it’s possible that the aerial itself is in the attic. Most indoor and loft mounted aerials have to strain to get a good digital signal.
The most certain way to get the best from your expensive television (and DVD recorder and -next year – Freeview HD box) is to have a new high-gain outdoor aerial directly wired to the television/DVD recorder. This will cost about £130 for a professional installer. Good value I say.
