where can i purchase heavy duty tire patches?
i want to start patching tires myself, where should i be able to get a kit or set of patches with the all of the necessary tools/items? i am not interested in plugs, but PATCHES 
. i have only looked in walmart, but am guessing that some sort of auto parts chain has this sort of thing. thanks for your time!
If your going to start patching your own tires then you need to be able to dismount and mount tires. The machine you need for that is both expensive and bulky. You will need a balancer as well. Your talking about some money there. Most independent parts houses carry the patches you will need. Don’t bother with the chain stores as they are only going to carry plugs. The best patches are actually the patch plugs. You dismount tire, ream the hole, clean the area surrounding the hole, goo it up with the glue, place the patch plug from the inside and pull the plug through, the patch is on the end inside the tire. This way you have sealed up the hole in the tread to prevent delamination of the tread. I own a shop and I either plug my own or take them to a tire shop and pay them to patch it correctly. Its too much of an investment in tooling for a small shop. I would have to patch alot of tires before I paid off the equipment.
