t = F x d = |F| |d| sin (theta) since the angle between the wrench and handle is perpendicular (theta = 90 degrees) the sine of 90 is 1…so essentially the torque (t) = the force times the distance of the lever arm.
A) t = F d = (50N) (.24m) = 12 N m
B) If the force is applied halfway up the handle the distance would equal 12 cm or .12m thus…
t = F d = (50N) (.12m) = 6 N m
