What’s a good toolset to buy for christmas gift?

I’m trying to pick out a tools combo for my bf. He planning to use them around the house, should prob. have drill, screwdriver, saw, sander and i don’t know what else he’d need. I’m trying to get a good set that worth the price. Maybe lifetime warranty would be good too. I’m looking at couple different brand (makita, craftsman, dewalt, firestorm) and different set, but not sure which to pick. Any suggestion would be great. I never buy tools before so not really sure what to look for. Cordless maybe? Let me know what’s a good value set tool combo?
what brand provide lifetime warranty for tools?
how’s firestorm compare to craftsman brand?

If he does not have any tools at all, a cordless set would be a nice gift. Dewalt is premium price contractor grade tools. These tools last contractors a few years and should last DIY’ers a lifetime. Black and Decker or Firestorm is the DIY’er grade of Dewalt. I no longer care for Craftsman and have little experience with Makita. I used to use Craftsman when I first got married but now I spend a little more for my tools than I could then.

I recommend 18 volt but now Li=Po batteries are coming out and probably at a premium price. NiCad works. I’m not sure I’d spring for the difference of Li-Po especially if I was buying a beginner set of tools.

The drill will be his most useful tool. My set also has a Sawsall and a circular saw. I prefer my corded circular saw over the cordless. The Sawsall is great, especially for demo work. If the drill has a low-speed setting, you probably do not need a screwdriver.

I did upgrade my battery charger after the kit version quit working. Be sure you get two batteries.

Another great place to get opinions from experienced users is Amazon. Read the reviews there. You will find a lot more experienced users there than YA.
