Why are phillips head screwdrivers made incorrectly?
A guy called 1 said this:
“A Phillips screwdriver, however, has a pointed tip. … Furthermore, the cross-shaped indentation in the screw is so shallow that when you’re done the screwdriver pops right out, before you get into trouble.”
But this is all wrong! One day I just gave up trying to screw a phillips and stared at the screw. I studied it. It seemed to me the “indentation” wasn’t deep enough. So I filed off the “pointed tip”. It worked!
Why?
I feel your pain. I have often suspected there was some sadist designing those stupid things. I have found it best to use the biggest possible screwdriver for whatever screw you are working with. Otherwise the slots will strip like crazy and leave you foaming at the mouth and wanting to choke someone. At least there are not as many Phillips screwdrivers as there are sockets for wrenches, so getting the several you need won’t be expensive.
