when installing an electrical outlet, how do you bend the wire perfectly to fit around the screws?
when installing or replacing an electrical outlet, is there a fool proof way to bend the wire into a hook shape for wrapping around the terminal screws? I always just try bending it into shape with needle nose pliers, but it never looks nice and usually takes me a few tries to get it decent, any tricks? also any tricks for folding all the wires into the electrical box neatly? thanks
Needle nose pliers. Grab one end of the wire and put it on the screw. Now with the needle nose pliers grab the bottom side of the screw and the top side of the wire. Pull the wire down half way around the screw. Now you should have an arch of wire half way around the screw. Grab the arch side with the pliers and try to push the end of wire around the rest of the screw in a turning motion. Your done.
