Is there a federal rule, if digitalized(scanned) receipts have to be accepted from stores for return purposes?
Also, if you know where I can find state rules if there is no federal law. Is there some trial case?
There would be no case law on that subject because of one thing. Stores are private entities, and they set the rules on what they are willing to accept. I hope that answers your question. I actually deal with people all the time, who complain that the store / resturant refused to even sell to them or serve them. All I can tell them is that it is the right of the business to sell to whom they choose, and they don’t really have any recourse.
